When the World is on Fire!

2 Peter 3:9-13

I. The World and God
It does not know God. (1 Cor. 1:21; John 17:25)
It hates God. (Rom. 1:30)
It opposes God. (1 John 2:16; James 4:4)

II. The World and the Lord Jesus Christ
It did not know Christ. (John 1:10)
It crucified Christ. (1 Cor. 2:8)
It did not believe Christ. (John 8:45)

III. The World and the Holy Spirit
It opposes the Spirit. (Acts 7:51)
It is convicted by the Spirit. (John 16:7-11)
It does not know the Spirit. (John 14:17)

IV. The World and the Christian
It hates us. (John 15:18, 19; 17:14)
It does not receive our testimony. (John 15:20; Isa. 53:1)
It does not know us. (1 John 3:1)

V. The World’s Guilt
The course of the world is evil. (Eph. 2:1-3)
The world stands guilty before God. (Rom. 3:19)
The sinner is guilty before God. (John 3:18)

VI. The World and Satan
It has Satan as its ruler (John 14:30; 16:11)
It has Satan as its god. (2 Cor. 4:4; see Rev. 13:1-4)
It is controlled by Satan. (1 John 5:19)

VII. The World’s Destiny
The world shall be judged. (Acts 17:31)
The world shall pass away. (1 John 2:17; 2 Peter 3:9-13)
The world is deceived and doomed. (Rev. 20:7-9)
