Single and Satisfied

I. Why Singles Ministry Is Imperative
If we ignor singles, we have forgotten:
– Jesus
– Paul
– Anna

II. What Scripture Says About Singles
“It is not good for man to be alone.” (Gen. 2:18)

 "The discioples said to Him, 'If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.' But He said to them, 'Not all men can accept this statement, but only those      to whom it has been given.'" (Matt. 19:10)

 "It is good not to marry." (1 Cor. 7)

“Is God good enough for your need, or is His all-sufficiency too narrow for you? Is His heart faint? Is His arm weary? If so, seek another God.” –C. H. Spurgeon

III. The Ways Society Pressures Singles

“As soon as our daughters reach the age of 20-22, we begin to panic if they don’t have marriage in sight. And if our sons are 20-25 and aren’t married, we begin to wonder if they have a secret problem that we don’t know about. Often the pressure of those kinds of worries produce marriages that turn out to be disastrous. Such marriages may be more the will of the parents than the will of God.” –John MacArthur

 Three Areas Where the Pressure Comes:
 1) Sexuality
 2) Emotions
 3) Materialism

IV. Suggestions And Thoughts For Singles

 1) Contentment is found today, not in the uncertain future.
 2) Find your sufficiency in Christ.
 3) Counter your loneliness with service.
 4) Save yourself for God's best.
 5) It's okay to admit and pray for a relationship with someone special.
 6) Make sure your self-worth is from God, not others' opinions.
