All of us are flooded with mail, email and material that says, “Open Immediately.” Quite honestly, it’s difficult to keep up. Here are a few tools I use to stay current on ministry, news and more.
World Magazine is a conservative response to magazines like Time and Newsweek. I subscribe to all three to get a variety of perspectives on the news. I’ve enjoyed World and find the commentaries and opinion pages very helpful for illustrations.
REV. Magazine is full of quotes, stats, ideas and articles. Every month, I go through my copy, then tear out the articles that apply to various staff members and pass them along. I know my staff won’t read the whole magazine, so I give them what is applicable to their area.
Christianity Today is always helpful and probably one of the most read magazines by the Christian community.
Leadership Journal is an outstanding resource for leaders, pastors and staff. The articles follow a theme each quarter. The cartoons are hilarious.
Although I subscribe to somewhere between 15-20 magazines and periodicals, if you are on a limited budget, I would recommend you make sure you have these four on your desk. The investment will pay dividends.
Be a reader to be a leader!
