– Dr. Ted Engstrom, co-authored with David J. Juroe, Fleming H. Revell Publishers.
I once worked for (and with) Dr. Ted Engstrom, and I have always admired his management skills. He knows how to get things done the way a Christian ought to do them. He is tough-minded and tender-hearted, a “servant-leader” who seeks to unite good business principles with solid biblical truth. His books on management are worth reading. These 13 chapters are direct and practical as they answer three key questions. Who is a workaholic? What makes a workaholic? How do you cure a workaholic?
Pastors and other Christian workers are prone to overdo things. It’s hard to say “no” to invitations and even harder not to “buy up” every opportunity. No wonder many pastors are experiencing burn-out, messed-up marriages and other personal problems.
The authors give a good survey of what causes “workaholism” and how the alert believer can detect the symptoms and deal with the causes. I like the way they deal with “success” and the place it has in today’s culture and today’s church.
Tell your wife to get you a copy as a gift for the next special occasion. There’s even a separate presentation page that she can fill out-with love!
