In its most recent State of Giving report, the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) noted that its members received more than $9.8 billion in cash donations in 2011. That giving has held fairly steady in recent years, especially compared to other reports of charitable giving. But there’s a lot of volatility among individual ministries and ministry categories. (Some swings are due to changes in ECFA membership, but this seems to be a minor factor.) The data are from members’ independent financial statements, not surveys.
