Does It Matter What You Believe?
Back in February, the AP ran the article linked below regarding people in the US dropping the faith of their childhood.
If this article is true, then something has to change. Faith no longer matters. This is another sign that we are living in a postmodern, relative-thinking culture. We’ve apparently lost 25% of those who were raised in faith-based homes. I would dare say it’s probably more.
Maybe our mainline denominations are dying because they are more committed to structure than the Spirit. If we aren’t willing to change the methods WITHOUT changing the message, we have little to say in a changing world. It’s important for us to be cutting edge in our methodology, but as old as stone in our theology. Nothing eternal changes. Methods do.
Wit that being said, this is another sign we need a sweeping movement of the Holy Spirit in our churches. Lacking a wind from heaven, we’re just going to keep seeing the souls of men blown into a spiritual desert. We need to show our communities and our culture the source of living water.
