Lying before me in a hazy mist,
Is a bended road I dimly see.
It stretches out to who knows where,
Or what it holds for me.
My steps are not as certain,
And my stride has slowed its pace.
I do not strive to finish first,
But to merely stay within the race.
Other bends have come and gone
But none as dark as this.
I pray that peace and courage be,
The things I do not miss.
Can I make the turn?
Will I stay the course?
My only hope is His guiding hands,
Sustaining me as my source.
He put before me vision,
Which I begged for Him to send;
Yet, before I can see it,
I must pass through the bend.
I asked if He could remove it,
Or straighten it to please.
He said, “My paths are made for me,
And not simply for your ease.”
With those words I resolved,
To stay until I see,
The answer to all my prayers,
Through a bend that leads to Thee.
He smiled with sweet approval,
And promised the heavens to rend;
Providing glimpses of His glory,
Just around the bend.
